Wild About the Gap – Majestic Morning Visitor

Pulling up to my office at Ballinger Memorial Hospital this morning, I was greeted by the most unexpected and breathtaking sight. Perched proudly just outside, as if standing guard, was a beautiful hawk.

We’re blessed to see a variety of birds around Ballinger Memorial. From cheerful songbirds flitting between the trees to doves resting quietly nearby, there’s always something that catches my eye. But this was the first time I’ve ever seen a hawk waiting there. And what a presence it had.

Hawks are simply majestic. There’s a confidence about them — a quiet strength. The way they sit so still, yet so alert. Their sharp eyes missing nothing. Their wings built to soar higher than most of us ever will. You can’t help but pause and admire them.

It felt symbolic somehow. A reminder to rise above the chaos of the day. To see the bigger picture. To stand firm and grounded, yet be ready to soar when the time comes.

In the middle of busy schedules, ringing phones, and full calendars, God has a way of placing something beautiful right in front of us if we’re willing to look up and notice it.

This morning, that reminder came with feathers and fierce grace.

Wild about Texas — and the beautiful creatures that call it home. 🦅
